For Your Town

Beyond programs for residential and business utility customers, the Connecticut Energy Efficiency Fund also has a wide variety of initiatives to help communities, towns and municipalities save energy, money and the environment.

SmartLiving Center™ & Displays

The SmartLiving Center is a showplace of innovative, stylish, and most importantly, energy–saving ideas for your home or business. It’s not a store, but it’s a great place to learn about—and try out—the latest in energy–efficient living. Perfect for school trips too! Located at 297 Boston Post Road (Rt 1) in Orange, Connecticut.

Custom Services

For electrical and HVAC needs, CL&P can identify specific needs and provide custom solutions – all at a substantial savings to you. Starting with a detailed Focused Study of your equipment and demand, CL&P can arrange for technical assistance and provide cash incentives to upgrade the efficiency of equipment. One–half of the study costs will be paid up front by CL&P, and the customer’s 50 percent (50%) share will be refunded following the installation of the recommended energy–saving measures.

Express Services

Through rebates, customers are encouraged to retrofit older lighting and replace motors and heating/cooling equipment with newer equipment that provides the same—or sometimes better—lighting and comfort while lowering energy use. The rebates are fixed amounts, provided on a per–unit basis. They are paid directly to customers after they install pre–designated measures using qualified, licensed contractors.

Energy Opportunities

This program can reduce operating costs and improve the energy efficiency of your existing facility. By retrofitting your lighting, heating, air conditioning, ventilation and process systems with the most energy–efficient equipment possible, we’ll help you replace inefficient equipment, upgrade your facility’s overall performance and improve energy management practices.

Operation and Maintenance (O&M) Program

To reduce energy consumption and O&M costs, this program offers energy studies, operator training and incentives to perform waste–eliminating maintenance procedures.

O&M RFP

CL&P, as manager of the Conservation and Load Management Fund, is soliciting proposals from any qualified party for electrical energy efficiency projects to be implemented at CL&P electric distribution customer facilities statewide in CL&P’s service territory.

eesmarts™

An engaging education program focused on using energy wisely, eesmarts is a series of packaged, grade–specific curriculums that teach kids how to make important decisions about energy use in their daily lives. Developed by a team of Connecticut certified educators, eesmarts is offered at no cost to schools in Connecticut.

Municipal Buildings Program

For municipalities that use abundant amounts of electricity to provide power to schools, public safety facilities, office buildings, waste–water treatment plants and other public structures, this program offers technical and financial assistance through energy–efficiency improvements to existing municipally owned buildings and facilities. CL&P will share up to fifty percent (50%) of the cost to install cost–effective energy efficiency measures, and other incentives may also include zero percent (0%) financing options.

Municipal Energy Services

UI’s Municipal Energy Services Program can provide energy efficiency services to your community’s office facilities, educational facilities, libraries, wastewater treatment plants, transportation and parking facilities and housing authorities within UI’s territory. There are cash incentives for electric efficiency and savings opportunities for systems such as traffic lighting, as well as zero percent (0%) financing options.

Opening window shades in the winter to let the sun in warms the building naturally. Just be sure to close them in the evening to prevent heat loss.
